The Tornado Rod is a unique Destruction staff.
Characteristics[]
The Tornado Rod has a similar effect as a first-level Cyclone shout, though it deals half the damage. It has a standard charge time of 0.5 seconds.
Effects[]
The Tornado Rod has a charge of 2000, with each use having a cost of 86.
It launches a 15ft Cyclone that ragdolls and throws creatures, dealing 15 points of damage per second. Depending on how far they fall, foes may take additional fall damage. The Rod's tossing ability has no effect on creatures immune to paralysis.
Location[]
The Tornado Rod is located within Itnamzand. It is found carried by the Ancient Automaton in Itnamzand Deep.
Lesser Variant[]
The Tornado Rod (Lesser) is a weaker copy of the Tornado Rod. As of version 6.6.2, they are in the process of being phased out. They may only be obtained from a Blue Kinstone fusion.
Lesser Tornado Rods were previously able to be crafted at the staff enchanter in Tel Mithryn, provided Farore's Gale was known. It required x4 Heart Stones, x4 Void Salts, and a Forgotten Staff of Forest.
Background and Inspiration[]
The Tornado Rod is based on the item of the same name from A Link Between Worlds. Its function is similar to the traditional Tornado Rod, but instead of acting on the caster, its effect is mobile and acts on foes.
Its original appearance was inspired by the traditional Tornado Rod, with some elements of a leaf design. The rod's spiky design was meant to give it a more serious look to fit with Skyrim's environment.
In version 6.6.2, the Fire Rod was given a unique model inspired by its appearance in A Link Between Worlds. It was made by Dralkkin, with additional design work by Robin_AM.
