The Hylian Soldier Armor is a set of cuirasses that generally have the same armor rating of the Blades Armor, as well as the same weight.

All variants of Hylian Soldier Armor are classified as Heavy Armor, and cannot be altered at an Alteration Table into Light Armor. The Hylian Scout Tunics, and Hylian Glass Armor have similar variants to the Soldier Armor and therefore bear the same enchantments.

Hylian Armor is blue and features the Crest of the Royal Family of Hyrule on the back, with the Triforce of Power faded, and the Triforce of Wisdom and Courage filled. A small Triforce mark can be seen on each pauldron.

Location Edit

The armor can be found on Hylian Ghosts, as well as in various places, such as the Kakariko Barracks in the Freezing Caves, and in the Sightless Pit, in the same chest containing the Magic Hammer.

Crafting Edit

While the armor itself cannot be crafted, it can be used as a base to craft other Hylian Soldier Armor variants. All variants require Level 60 in Smithing, and Ancient Knowledge or the Triforce of Knowledge. Some variants require a volume of A Chronicle of War to be in the player's inventory as well.

Hylian Blue Ring Armor Edit

Hylian Blue Ring Armor is a brighter blue than the standard Hylian Armor and features the symbols of the Shiekah Tribe on the back of the armor, below the Crest of the Royal Family, on each side.

The armor's enchantment will fortify Illusion spells, the Sneak skill, and reflect damage back at the enemy when hit. This effect can be enhanced if the player is equipped with a Blue Ring or Red Ring.

Location Edit

The Hylian Blue Ring Armor can be found in a house connected to the Freezing Caves on the floor next to the table, as well as randomly appearing in the Dark Chest of Wonders in Morwitijaal, and can be seen being worn by Hylian Ghosts.

Lore Edit

Hylian Armor

The Hylian Armor is the standard armor that was used by most of the Hylian soldiers during The Last Great War of Hyrule.

Hylian Blue Ring Armor

The Hylian Blue Ring Armor was made for soldiers that were skillful at stealth operations and may have been used by Sheikah who were involved with the war.

Hylian Dark Armor

Hylian Dark Armor was crafted by Gerudo loyal to Hyrule for soldiers adept in magic use, heightening their magic skills. Its protection allowed mages to fight on the front lines. With Ganondorf as their king, the Gerudo had lost their way and delved into the use of dark magic. The Hylian Dark Armor was based on magic known by the Gerudo who defected and joined the Hylian Army.

Hylian Eldin Armor

The armor may have been named after the Dragon God Eldin, once worshiped by the Goron tribe.

Hylian Faron Armor

The armor may have been named after the Dragon God Faron, worshiped by the Zora tribe.

Hylian Goron Armor

The armor was made using the expertise of the Goron Tribe of Death Mountain. It was one of the first suits of armor made for the Hylian Army to help soldiers fight against magical threats.

Hylian Ikana Armor

The Hylian Ikana Armor was armor crafted using skills of those from Ikana Valley in Termina. It allowed soldiers to be completely immune to all magic attacks, thus equalizing battle between soldiers and mages.

Hylian Lanayru Armor

Hylian Lanayru Armor is named for the Dragon God Lanayru, once worshiped by the Gerudo. It bears the symbols of the Gerudo as a reminder of the tribe's past.

Hylian Oocca Armor

The Hylian Oocca Armor is named after the Oocca of the City in the Sky. The gray color and use of the symbol of winds serve to honor the memory of the City after it fell. The latter may be reference to the Hero of Winds.

Hylian Woodfall Armor

The Woodfall Armor represents a contribution to the war from Termina. Its resistance to poison references the swamp of Woodfall, the waters of which were poisoned and tinted purple until they were cleansed by the efforts of the Hero of Time.

Hylian Yeti Armor

The armor is named for the Yeti tribe of Snowpeak, and uses the symbols of Snowhead. As such, it represents a connection between Termina and Hyrule. While the magic used for the armor comes from Snowpeak, the Yetis refused to take part in the war. The name of the armor honored their pacifism and was intended to remind soldiers that there were innocents living in Hyrule who needed protection.

Background and Inspiration Edit

All variants of the Hylian Soldier Armor other than Oocca, Eldin, and Faron variants were included in a standalone mod before being integrated into Relics of Hyrule. Oocca, Eldin, and Faron armor variants were added in version 6.3.

Lore concerning many sets of armor is outlined in the Chronicles of War, three of which were included in the standalone mod. Certain variants require various volumes of the Chronicles for crafting, the implication being that the player learns of a variant by reading a certain volume of the Chronicles of War.

The Hylian Soldier Armor and its variants were made to provide heavy armor options for players as well as to establish lore for the Last Great War of Hyrule. They serve to illustrate the nuances of the Hylian Army and to establish the roles and desperation of Hyrule's soldiers.

Hylian Blue Ring Armor was originally called Hylian Sheikah Armor, but the name was changed to avoid confusion.

Hylian Lanayru Armor bears the symbol of the Gerudo because the symbol associated with the Dragon God Lanayru is used by the Zora. The opportunity was used to connect Gerudo Desert and Lanayru Desert, and to allude to a history for the Gerudo tribe.

The Hylian Dark Armor serves as a counterpart to the Hylian Lanayru Armor. While the motifs of the Hylian Dark Armor represent the state of the Gerudo during the Last Great War of Hyrule, the motifs of the Lanayru Armor represent the Gerudo's past.

The Hylian Oocca Armor bears the symbol of the Winds, which is seen on the Sail in The Wind Waker. This was likely to establish the connection with the Oocca being beings from the sky, and the City in the Sky dungeon in Twilight Princess also shared the theme of the wind.
